CUFF STYLES
Small design changes in collars and cuffs are what make the dress shirts standout. It’s all in the detail for men’s shirts. Deciding on which cuff to choose for your dress shirt can be fairly simple if wearer knows his preference for buttons or cuff links and the shape of cuff enclosure. However since different options are available, we will list here our favourite cuffs for dress shirts and their relevance.
MITERED CUFF – BEVELED WRIST
The Mitered cuffs are characterized by the 45 degrees angle mitered cut at the cuff corner. This makes the cuff standout more and therefore has a more formal or professional look.
TWO BUTTON MITERED CUFF
The two button mitered cuff is different than the single button mitered cuff since it has two buttons and the cuff is a bit longer. This makes it more elegant and formal and it looks very stylish when worn with a watch.
BARREL CUFFS – STRAIGHT WRIST
The most straightforward choice for casual shirts has to be the Barrel cuffs. It consists of either one or two buttons with straight corners of the cuff. They are the most widely used and most casual cuffs. Shirts with these cuffs can easily be paired off with jeans and a blazer.
FRENCH CUFF
French cuffs are double the length of normal barrel cuffs. They are folded back on themselves and closed with cuff links. They have a very prominent appearance and look extremely formal so they are usually paired with the most formal collar styles and premium shirts. They are best suited for black tie occasions.
ROUNDED CUFF – ROUND WRIST
Rounded cuffs are similar to the Barrel cuffs, the obvious difference is that the corners of the cuffs are softened into a curve thus making it look more casual and comfy. Again this is an informal cuff and works well with the buttons down collar shirts.
